Whoa: Alexander McQueen Fall 2008 RTW.

Posted in inspirations, things i love by bluewellesleyblue on August 25, 2008

While Alexander McQueen’s ready-to-wear runway show for Fall 2008 doesn’t include very much that might translate well into day to day life, it is quite inspiring from a costume design perspective. It reminds me a little bit of some of the costumes in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, namely the ones worn by Padme or Natalie Portman’s character. Some of the white dresses with the shorter, very voluminous skirts also remind me of ballet costumes. This show must have been quite a sight to behold.

I’m not at all familiar with the latter, but when I first saw the collection I thought that much of it reminded me of royalty. This show is definitely quite an artistic achievement.

They are very inspiring. Maybe I could incorporate some of the patterns into everyday life along with the chunky jewelry.
